The correct guys to deal with visas were late to work, but as the queue was only me, a French girl, and an Indian cyclist from Mumbai ( in two and a half months on a old dunger indian bike) it wasn't too much of a burden.
The guys weren't keen for them to issue the visa. They don't think I've got enough time to get to the border and then across India to Nepal before the three months runs out. Indian visas start as soon as they issue them, unlike most other countries which give you a "use by date". Anyway I convinced them I could do it....so hopefully they issue it...in five days...Friday.
So what do I do for five days in Vientaine? It's not really a very interesting place. It's got a sort of laid back tourist area but nothing like other main cities or tourist destinations. So far I've done lots of eating, a bit of wandering the streets, and a bit of snoozing.
Would like to find a decent bike repair shop for Fiona to have a 5000km, (now 6000km) check up. Might get a hair cut and thinking about getting a dentist to have a quick look at my two broken teeth.....but that's a bit scarey..... Otherwise I'll just keep spending lots on western food. Who knows when I see it again.
