Very special day.....we arrived in Perth. Started the day with a Bakery breakfast, Pie and chocolate fudge cake for him, sausage roll and jammy roll for her. Then navigated to the Railway station.....the most difficult navigation of the whole trip.....trying to find the start of the cycle track to Perth.
For 75km we followed a cycle track that ran parallel to the Freeway to Perth. NZ, and especially Auckland, could learn some stuff from WA. Safe, enjoyable, pleasant, away from traffic, direct, and pretty busy for a Tuesday, and we were able we to stop for breaks without the fear of being bowled by a truck. Ju did amazingly well again. We were running on the big breakfast feed, and adrenaline. I've got to admit, I was excited about finally reaching the end of my Australian leg, and probably pushed a little hard at times, but she kept up, and didn't complain once. Love her.
Need to thank all those who have helped make this section of my Global Ride possible. The list includes: Rayma and Greg, Sal and Justin, Dipak and Nabina, Lions Clubs members Hosts CanTeen & Prostate Cancer Hosts Warm Showers Hosts, Amanda Best, Suzette & Dan, Lisa & Tim, Paul & Amber, Verdon from Samsung, Matthew from Bivouac Outdoor, Active Earth Adventures, First Training, Shattky Optometrist, and of course Juliet.
Feeling really great about having cycled 4698km in 70 days. Excited about the next legs, Indonesia, Malaysia and beyond, but first a few days hanging out in Perth, getting the bike checked over, sorting visas, and being a tourist.
