Ronzano to Siena 68km
A dream come true for Juliet...... staying in a Villa in Tuscany, with wonderful people, drinking wine, and coffee (decaffeinated ? oooops), visiting hill tops villages, and eating wonderful food. She did not bounce out of bed in the morning, eager to jump back on her bicycle, in the pouring rain, and climb the hilly drive back to the main road. Oh well. She's on holiday...... But...... the next day, even though it was still raining, we had to leave. Our hosts, the wonderful Croker family, were off to Venice...... Oh well. We'll be right.
Actually, it wasn't that bad...... and we were pretty comfortable, until a motorist sped through a huge puddle and drenched us. Oh, and then we realised our planned route was actually a motorway, so no bicycles. So it was a small backtrack, onto the smaller roads..... which were really nice. Tuscany is beautiful. Amazingly green fields, old buildings, narrow streets and roads, and gentle hills, and it didn't actually rain too hard.....
We arrived in the hilltop town of Siena mid afternoon and found a hotel. A walk through the narrow streets, and we knew that we wouldn't have time to explore it all that evening. We booked an extra night. So the kms in Italy are not flying past, but Juliet is having a wonderful holiday, and I'm very much enjoying sharing it with her. Hope you enjoy some of our photos
