100km in 6.5 hours was pretty respectable I thought. My body wasn't agreeing as I climbed the last hill up to host Warwicks house. The legs were jelly, I was soaked to the skin, and I was hoping that the silver car I was following was still Warwick. It was, and the shower was fantastic.
I'm unsure how many times I've flown over the Raglan/Waikato coast on the way to Auckland, and wondered what was below. I now know. Fantastically quiet roads, beautiful green farm scenery, and lots of country type folk that still wave at you as you bike past. You need to come look see for yourself.
Being so wet and miserable today, my mind was thinking of places that I would still not rather be.... The UK summer sprang to mind, and all my friends who just happen to be experiencing that summer right now, those from Hanmer include Kerry & Philly, Jen & Matt, Wendy, and a couple of wanna be Hanmerites, Gayle & John. Hope UK summer treating you well guys. Thoughts of you kept me going today.
Had a well earned snooze this afternoon before a meal with the Tuakau Lions. Really appreciate your support.
An amazing thing was happening today. All these very familiar names were on signs, but I couldn't believe that I was on my bike and passing them. They are all really close to Auckland, which has been a goal for so many days.... and I'm almost there. Wow. And then I can focus on a safe return, to Hanmer Springs.
