For the last two days I've been wandering the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, soaking in the atmosphere, then eating, and eating some more, western food, and sleeping and snoozing, and sleeping some more, and last night, my dreams were answered. At 2235 on the 31st December 2014, my sweet sweet lady walked into my arms, after 25 hours traveling from Christchurch. All my Xmas, birthday and New Years gifts at once. Wooohoo.
The traffic was crazy. Even the taxi driver was exclaiming. Wall to wall motor bikes, but we made it back to the hotel in time to stand in the middle of a major road, amongst 1000s of scooters, and watch a massive fire works display.....well we only saw half of it, the other half was hidden behind a skyscraper, but the locals were filled with ooohs, and aaahs, so it must have been pretty good.
The streets around the hotel were chockablock filled with partying people. Never have I seen so many people in one place, and with scooters weaving through the crowd....... Ju was pretty weary, but we managed a beer, in a very loud bar across from the hotel before hitting the hay.
Today has been spent putting her bike together, and me repacking my gear. I have my trailer back. I also got to open all the gifts from friends and supporters at home. Thank you all. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to those at the Lolly Shop in Hanmer Springs, Squirt Lube NZ, Ems Power cookies, Dennis, Janie, Sam, Earth Sea Sky, and all that sent hugs with Ju......I'm enjoying them.
We wish all a Happy New Year. We've had our happy ending, and now we're heading into a happy beginning. Welcome to 2015. What's you're adventure going to be?
