It's a 4.20am shuttle pick up, so a pretty early get up, but we get to the airport in plenty of time to check in, and are really pleased when we weigh in the bags. Ju has 23kg on the nail, and I have 24kg. When I unzip the bag to take something out to reduce the weight, the AirNZ lady takes pity on me and tells me not to bother....thanks AirNZ lady....
International flying in Cattle class is always a drag.....that's why i want to bike around the globe...too bad about the wet bits, and today is no exception. Full flight, so no chance to stretch out and get a good sleep, but at least it's only 3hrs to Sydney, and then we get a couple of hours to wander about and stretch before the 13hrs to LA. Ooops. Something went wrong. We barely make it to the gate in time to board the for to USA. No time for a leisurely wander around the airport, a toilet stop or a coffee. Straight on board and away....for 13+hours.
Ju is still stuffed up with a cold, and cold fighting drugs so not too comfortable, but at least she has an aisle seat so can get up and wander about. 13 hours is a long time to sit and watch movies. You get a very achey bum. It's much more comfortable to be on your bike seat for that length of time, and sleep .....forget it.
USA entry was the most relaxed and stress free than it had ever been. A really helpful lady giving advice and a cheerful and smiling immigration official. Ju left her Ipod on the plane, and another smiling attendant went back to the plane to pick it up. Thank you USA immigration and Delta staff.
24 hours after leaving home we sign in to a Travel Lodge motel for the day, enjoy the free continental breakfast, and crash out ....lying down.....on a big double bed. Next flight, to Las Vegas is in 12 hours.
