The kms passed quickly. My mate Rod would have enjoyed them..... flat. 7km is a very relevant number. Uphill 7km takes an hour. In the wind 7km takes 30mins. On the flat, 20mins. Downhill, 10mins. Must be a lesson somewhere in there..... Perhaps: you work hard pushing uphill for a long time to get to the good stuff, so you better enjoy the good stuff because it doesn't last long before you're pushing uphill again.
Definitely the best part of the day was turning off the main road and heading past Maungamarie School and over the hill into the Nikau valley.
Stunningly beautiful. These hidden valleys, off the main drag are always the best. Hosted tonight by Vicky and Chuzz Taylor. I couldn't feel more welcome, and relaxed. Thank you heaps, Pahiatua Lions and Lionesses.
Tonight I am missing the technical rehearsal for Hanmer Springs Stars in Their Eyes. Lots of mates are involved, raising money for local community groups. Hope it goes well guys. Let me know who's turn it was to do a paddy.
