Only 25km to go to Picton Ferry and the aim was the 10.30 crossing with my mate Ben. Inspired to push the pace when I saw ahead of me only my second cyclist. The first was yesterday. Heidi, a pretty (aren't they all) young Swiss girl, with trailer and all the gear. Too bad that after a lovely chat, she headed south. But she is coming to Hanmer boys, so keep a look out.
Great spending time with Ben. He and Cendrine were moving to Wellington today... minus their cat who did a disappearing act this morning. We will miss them in Hanmer.
Crossing was smooth and even had a snooze and with only 25km to cousin Christine things looked rosie, until I went through a dark underpass, going the wrong way. Thought I was lucky to get out of there without a puncture. 10km later the broken
glass in the tyre finally pushed through to the tube. Puncture number two. Seems I didn't get all the glass out, because puncture number three happened a couple of kms later. Still got to Christine before dark, and before the ugly looking clouds released their load. Day four done and dusted, and looking forward to looping the North Island
