Bhureguan to Attawa Chowk 109km (in 45°C)
You'd have to be bleeding crazy. She, my Nepali daughter, pushed me and pushed me. Breaks were many, but short. She fed me, watered me, coaxed me , bullied me, told me stories, told me lies. She did everything but carry me. I grumbled, I cried, I moaned, I faked pain, (no it wasn't faked), I whimped, I whined, I hid behind trees hoping she would leave without me. But the strongest came through, the best team on the day won. Tessa got us 109km in 45°C.
Then she rolled me under the cold shower, fully clothed, and turned on the tap, and walked away with a grin.
When I emerged 30 mins later, not much cooler, but refreshed, I had a grin as well. Only 50km to India tomorrow, and a huge day, to celebrate 365 days on my Adventure.
Then I was shunted off to get a haircut, a shave, and a face and scalp massage, all for $3.50. Feeling a lot more human, we enjoyed a celebratory dinner of fried momo, salad, and a long dreamed about icecream.
To top it all off, we have Internet, and I read that Pamir Highway permits are back on the agenda this season. Yippee. And I get to chat to a very tired, sleepy Juliet.
Adventure. It has really hard moments, and so many sweet ones.
